I have not worn the boots hiking in Alaska, the main reason why I purchased them, however, they are very comfortable on the walks I have taken at home, to break them in. They are lightweight, an important factor, look nice and are certainly wearable at any time. Waterproofness is also key in the wet wooded areas so that is another reason why these particular boots were purchased and what I am looking for. So, now they are good pending the real test in a few weeks.

I have wanted just such a pair of hiking boots for years and these fit the bill without the high price, with good support and tread, waterproof too! I wear 11AAA and the 11 is only just long enough while wearing thick socks, so I recommend ordering one size up if you are in doubt about the length. The B width (the only choice) was just fine too! Zappos is always quick with delivery and I have never had to return anything!

I'm pretty disappointed with these boots. They are heavier than most hiking boots and they poof out around the ankles which is very unflattering. The laces don't stay tight and for some reason my left boot was way smaller than the right and I had to get it stretched. The design of the shoe dips very low in the back so when you hike you get pricklees in your socks. I'll probably have to order new boots again next year, so sad :(

I bought these as snow boots for the tough Ohio winters. They're great! Really comfortable, I can wear them all day with no pain. They keep my feet dry too, but I wish they were warmer. The actual boot was wider at the top then I thought, but still fits under pants nicely. I bought them in 1/2 size larger to account for thick socks which seemed to work out perfectly. Great buy!

waterlogged!

These are lightweight, great ankle support (the reason I ordered them) and waterproof. Strong but easy to break in. I wear them in the mountains of Wales.

great boot, great price!

A great hiking/all-purpose boot for fall and winter. I generally wear hiking boots during both seasons as my daily footwear. I have not yet actually hiked in the shoe, but have have gone through a rainstorm and some puddles without any problems. Overall, I recommend it.

I've worn Hi-Tec hiking boots for 20 years and this is only my third pair...that's the quality. Yes, the sizes run small, but that is definitely an advantage to me and why I stay with this brand. I normally wear a size 5, but wear a 5.5 in these boots. They are comfortable and I'm happy to have the waterproof option as I'm taking them to Costa Rica in 2 weeks.
